Gay Games II, held August 9-17 in San Francisco, will be a week of athletic and cultural events for the gay and lesbian community from across the nation and around the world.
The Opening Ceremonies, Saturday, August 9, at Kezar Stadium in Golden Gate Park, will feature writer Rita Mae Brown as Master of Ceremonies. They will be highlighted by the triumphant entry
of over 3,500 gay and lesbian athletes from around the world.
Award-winning entertainer Jennifer Holliday will be the featured performer at the Closing Ceremonies Sunday, August 17. Holliday first leaped to national her Tony prominence in award-winning performance in
Dreamgirls, one of the most successful shows on Broadway in recent years. Recently she has appeared in a na tional touring company of Sing, Mahalia, Sing, packing houses across the country.
Also held at Kezar Stadium, the Closing Ceremonies will include an array of gay dancers, cloggers, singers and 500 members of the 15 Lesbian/Gay Bands of America. Over 20,000 specta-tors are expeced.
